Goodreads asked Lou Hoffmann:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Lou Hoffmann (1) Write on, no matter what.
(2) Let yourself write with abandon, then let the work rest, then let go of the pieces that don't work, even if you love them. (Save those for 'someday.'
(3) Don't read "how to" books that have titles like "Six Million Reasons Your Book Won't Get Published." (Totally made the title up, but you get the idea--nix on the negativity.)
(4) Don't be afraid of the publisher, editor, agent, successful author. They're just people. They can help. They can't always be available. They aren't always right. Usually, they mean well, and most are kind. (And if they're not, they don't deserve your concern.)
(5)Write on, no matter what!
