Id say 17...don't want the kids to grow up too fast even though I know they do nowadays

While this is not a YA book, it will appeal to older teens because one of the main characters is a teen.

If you're child is mature enough to read the "racier" young adult books, I would say 14+. There's nothing overly graphic in the book, thing in terms of what a PG-13 movie was in the 80's.
