Mkittysamom It is similar in Tempe's character but she is not superwoman as in the tv series. The cases are similar, but I think book 2 is better than the first. I have a feeling the more you read Kathy Reich's novels..the more addicting they are.
Shannon I have only read the first Tempe Brennan book, but did not find it similar enough to hold my interest beyond that first book. If you like murder mysteries you will likely enkoy this book, but the best strategy is to just forget about any pre-conceived parallels between the book and the show and take it on its own merit..
SapphireFox I found the tv series and the first book to be worlds apart - I have not read any of the other books in the series.
If you are looking for a book similar to the series, I would suggest trying Beverly Connor's One Grave too Many
Victoria Smith I found some similarities, but I would say for the most part no, the books are not like the TV series.
Jan It is similar. Booth is completely different. Not even the same name. In fact, in this book, they are not even a couple. Brennen is smart, but not a genius. The book is good - an easy read.
Karen The books are a lot better than the TV series. I have read all of The temp books and love them all but couldn't get into the TV series.
Susan There are few similarities between this book(I read the first one) and the tv series. I started reading it with that knowledge so I wasn't disappointed in that respect. However, what absolutely floored me was the descriptions of the gore, murder scenes, autopsies, etc. I was not prepared for that. In fact, I had added all the books to my "to read" list, and just deleted all of them. Maybe in the future, I may feel strong enough to read another one, but for now, not so much.
Lilian Bascuñan It's more realistic than the tv show. And Temperance Brennan is a divorced woman, with a daugther in college and an alcohol problem, she is in AA, and used to go to a therapist to deal with that and other problems. There's no FBI or a team of "squints", just local police with realistic procedures and limited resources
