Patricia Lovett asked Glenda Reynolds:

What process, style or strategy do you employ in prewriting?

Glenda Reynolds 1. I have established my writing space: laptop on the dining room table with a view of palms & a garden.

2. I find my inspiration - my big idea. Sometimes I have to research for the complete idea & story. I don't necessarily think "reader-first". I write with my own voice as if I'm writing it to myself.

3. I rarely do an outline to write. I am a "pantser" (write by the seat of my pants - with structure). Both my characters and I don't know what's around the bend until it unfolds. When that happens, I'm in my writing mode, and the next thing I know is that the hubby is begging for dinner.

4. I try to put just enough description and dialogue to keep it interesting but not boring. Action and conflict will keep the reader engaged. I always try to have a climax and a good ending.

5. I acknowledge a sacred deadline for story completion.

6. When I've reached my word limit (flash fiction), then I edit / polish and see how it could still be made better.
