If you could travel to any fictional book world, where would you go and what would you do there?
Sherwood Smith
I’ve been ruminating on this one off and on. The Captain Obvious answer from someone who has been writing about another world for over fifty of her 66 years is that world, so moving right on from there, I guess I’d want to make stipulations.
Like, who is the “I” going to these other worlds? If it’s the myopic post-stroke 66-year-old cis white woman me, I’d pick worlds where such would be 1) safe and 2) access to magic to fix some of those conditions.
If I could be the younger me who studied fencing and martial arts, who had boundless energy, who could go a couple days without eating and sleep on the ground and spring up ready for action--all of which I did on my limited travels--then my choices would widen exponentially.
My curiosity is so intense, my list would be every bit as long as my travel wish list for this world, had I the wherewithal. I’d like to visit amazing worlds, and meet amazing characters I’ve loved and admired, but if I were to be confined to a single place to settle, whether as me or a younger version of myself, oh, then I would pick Rivendell in Middle-earth. I could sit happily in the corner with Bilbo and read and listen to the music and poetry for long and long.

Oh also.. There are so many seemingly small details that are woven back into the story, eg Joret noticing Cama as a boy, Dogpiss' egg story and Inda's escape. Where would you put yourself on the planner vs "pantser" spectrum? There are minor moments like Whipstick's discussion with Hadand's Runner about her annual grief - is it hard to choose which aside scenes should be in the book and which should be left out?

Where potty training is learning a spell - do newborn babies wear diapers/nappies? Are they cleaned by other spells? I know at least once you had an injured person glad to wake up in time to do the spell, so I infer that there was a chance others couldn't do it for her.
