Is Glasshouse ( a sequel to | in the same universe as ) Accelerando? The internets say conflicting things.

Short answer: no it's not, it's a stand-alone.
Slightly longer answer: I originally intended to write it as a sequel, but then chickened out (because "Accelerando" had a bunch of extra background stuff that I realized would distort the structure of "Glasshouse" if I did that).
Parenthetical what-single-thing-I-would-do-differently-today wrt. "Glasshouse": I assumed that most folks were familiar with the army colloquial usage of "glasshouse". Turns out it's specific to the British army and not that well known even in the UK these days; it's the slang name for a military prison.

A popular theme in a lot of older space opera was the eugenically bred ubermensch line. Often this line of ubermensch is helped out by mysterious superhuman intelligences: Kinneson's line from the Lensman stories, the Instrumentality of Mankind from Cordwainer Smith and the Lazarus Long clan of Heinlein. Was this a conscious influence on the Remastered and their Unborn God in Iron Sunrise?
