Hey guys, about 2/3 into the book, Lee Child mentions Jack Reacher buying "sap" in a survival gear store, and continues to mention it along the book. I'm not a native english speaker, although I understand it pretty well. Yet, "sap" has always been for me a liquid that comes out from trees, and after some google-searching, I have no idea of what he bought at that survival gear shop. ¿Can somebody help me out?

It's a bludgeon or a club. Basically like a police baton. It's not a common word. I'm a native English speaker and I had to look it up.
Bill Jenkins
You can look it up. It's a short club used by cops. I don't think cops use these anymore. Its probably been replaced by stun weapons. This is another aspect of this novel that makes it outdated.
