Charles
Charles asked Christopher Farnsworth:

Did you write Deep State at some earlier time or did you write it between Killfile and Flashmob? If that it was the latter did you find it difficult to get back into Cade's head? The writing in Deep State and the other Cade books is different from that in KF and FM. There's more energy in your writing in the Cade books and a different pace. Is this intentional? While enjoyed KF and FM, I continue to LOVE Cade.

Christopher Farnsworth I wrote DEEP STATE after FLASHMOB. It was nice to get back to Cade. I found it was like putting on a familiar and comfortable jacket. No adjustments necessary. Just like old times.

But I think I know what you mean about the energy and pacing. I try for a different voice with Cade and Zach, and their adventures are very different than those of John Smith. The Smith books are also told in first person, which limits his perspective. I do feel I can cut loose a little more with Cade, because there are different rules and expectations. When you start with a vampire, you can ask for a greater suspension of disbelief from the reader.
