I am completely smitten with The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and recommending it to all of my friends. It is one of the best novels I've read in a couple of years. What are your favorite novels? What stories have inspired you?

I've collected a number of favorite books over the years. The World According to Garp was my favorite book in college. Middlesex was another favorite of mine. Anything by Ann Patchett. I love the Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller. I really loved My Friend Leonard by James Frey.
I'm always inspired by The Great Gatsby. I read it over and over in the effort of understanding it more fully and of being able to replicate some of way Fitzgerald can turn a story into a legend.
