Savanna asked Taylor Jenkins Reid:

I love the way you write, and our book club is obsessed with all of your books. In stories like After I Do, and One True Loves, do you know what the end result will be when you start writing, or does it develop in the process? I'm always so torn at the end, but I usually favor one outcome (Team Sam).

Taylor Jenkins Reid I always know the end of a book before I start writing. I don't know much that happens in the middle but I know the beginning and the ending.

It makes it much easier to write toward that conclusion and take the reader on a satisfying experience.

Of course, sometimes, halfway through a book, I'll get a cockamamie idea to change the ending completely. But that normally lasts for about two days before I realize my first idea was the better idea.
