How do you come up with the character names? Specifically, how did you pick the name Emmett?

Hey Courtney,
Thanks for this question. Most of the time I'm focused on the "sound" of a character's name, and whether I think it fits their personality. I actually went back to Emmett's parents for his name. His dad is a huge fan of the NFL, and grew up watching the Cowboys. Although he would have missed most of Emmett Smith's years because of his age, any one who grows up a Cowboys fan gets to see plenty of highlights of one of the greatest running backs to ever live. So as much as it shames me to say as a Pittsburgh Steeler fan, Emmett was named after Emmett Smith and the famous stiff arm.

How to did you come up with the description of the substance nyxia in the book? They way you create this not existent substance through thin air is amazing and I just don't understand how you wrote it perfectly too give the substance so much power yet so much fear!
