I have a ? about the intended relationship between the 1st 2 Calpurnia books and the newer Girl Vet series. I read the 1st 2 2 yrs ago and even read The Evolution... aloud to several classes of 5th graders (they loved it and were fascinated with the setting because we are just N of Austin). When I read Skunked, it felt like it was intended for younger readers but they wouldn't have read the 1st 2.

Jacqueline Kelly Yes, the Girl Vet series (there will be 5 or 6 in total) are intended for younger readers, and to serve as a gateway to the novels. My publisher asked me to write them, and I'm happy with how they've turned out. Do you know about Return to the Willows? Your class might enjoy that one.
