Jenny asked Charlaine Harris:

I've seen you state that you have to wait till or if your publisher requests for you to write more books in a series. Is that how it is for all your book series? If you have an idea, something you think might really work/add to a series can you pitch it to someone? How does that process work? And what's your process when you come up with a brand new idea for a book or series? Thanks!! :)

Charlaine Harris If the series is ongoing, yes, I have to wait to see if my publisher will sign me for more books. If I have a fresh idea, I talk to my agent about it, and he pitches it with various editors for me. I tend to turn over new concepts for a while, until the world begins to form up for me, so I can decide how I'm going to approach it, and who my protagonist will be.
