This book has gotten many bad reviews and it made me lenient to pick it up. Is it anything like the musical? Or will I be disappointed?

The plot in the musical is vastly improved, imo. Jeremy is a sexist prick. The book is full of dangerous examples of toxic masculinity. The characters aren't as interesting. I feel like I didn't read the same book as people below me who say it's similar or that they loved it. The squip is the only character I actually enjoyed and I like what they did with it in the musical more, so I'd say skip it, you'll probably be disappointed. But if you're willing to read it anyway, at least it's short. (less)
