Did anyone else find the ending disappointing? What happened? How in the world are they going to get out of the country with that baby? How will they evade investigation? Unanswered in the book. Are we supposed to furnish our own ending? Unsatisfied!!!

Honestly, there was an exact point in the book that I thought for sure that she had a mental break or was afflicted by some sort of psychosis, and all the events moving forward had all been in her head. The entire last part of the book was exceptionally unbelievable, and I was convinced that I was right - that we were seeing in the view of a person who had a break with reality. Why on earth was the search for her father/relationship with her mother so important to spend so long on? Really disappointed, as this was my first Lehane book, and I feel it had so much more potential based on the first half. It very quickly fell apart.(less)
