How do you get inspired to write?

Ginger Voight The short answer is anything can inspire me. Music, random conversations, just letting my busy brain run uninterrupted as I chase down ideas. But that's just the beginning of the process. What plants my butt in the seat to hammer out an outline and do all the heavy lifting is figuring out how I can explore the ideas in new ways. What do I have to say that is any different than anyone else? Sometimes my characters lead me, sometimes I go into the project with a definite idea of what I want to say. But in the end, if it interests me enough to peel back the layers of "why" and teaches me something about myself, the world around me or society in general, that's all the inspiration I need.
