A typical day for me isn't very glamorous, I'm afraid! Wake up, answer emails, go to the gym, run whatever errands need running, take dogs on an hour-long ramble, shower, eat a 10-minute lunch, and be sitting down at the computer around 1pm. Between 1 and 7pm is my writing time, where I try to get down 2000-3000 words, as well as keep abreast of emails, promo, research, and social media. Between 6 and 7pm I am dragged off the work-in-progress by dogs informing me with great firmness that they need to be fed, and then I usually collapse in front of the Red Sox game with a glass of wine and whatever book I'm currently reading. Lather, rinse, and repeat the next day. Everyone's routine is different; what works best for me is Scrivener, good critique partners, and long walks where I wrestle out plotting problems!

Hello Ms. Quinn I just wanted to say that Mistress of Rome is one of my favorite books. As a student of history I love reading authors take on the past and must say your books do it justice. What made you want to write about Rome in the first place? And will you ever go further back in history to a different place? Also what advice would you give people who wish to publish their works?
