Goodreads asked Mark M. Bello:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Mark M. Bello Like my other novels, Betrayal at the Border was inspired by true stories about the social justice struggles of ordinary people. In this book, the focus is immigration and foreign relations. The book tells two stories: 1. The plight of an undocumented couple who are separated from their children after ICE raids their plant. After a short stay in a detention center, the couple returns home to discover that ICE has taken their children and no one has any idea where they are. 2. A naturalized mother takes her young child back to Syria to visit the child's grandmother for the first time. On the road from Damascus to Kobani, mother and child are kidnapped and held for ransom by ISIS.

Can they be reunited with their families? Enter super lawyer Zachary Blake. These are stories that could happen to any similarly situated family. Hope you enjoy—please reach out and let me know what you think.
