One fine morning, in the middle of the night. Two dead boys went out to fight.

Like my other novels, Betrayal at the Border was inspired by true stories about the social justice struggles of ordinary people. In this book, the focus is immigration and foreign relations. The book tells two stories: 1. The plight of an undocumented couple who are separated from their children after ICE raids their plant. After a short stay in a detention center, the couple returns home to discover that ICE has taken their children and no one has any idea where they are. 2. A naturalized mother takes her young child back to Syria to visit the child's grandmother for the first time. On the road from Damascus to Kobani, mother and child are kidnapped and held for ransom by ISIS.
Can they be reunited with their families? Enter super lawyer Zachary Blake. These are stories that could happen to any similarly situated family. Hope you enjoy—please reach out and let me know what you think.

I didn't really experience writer's block except in the idea stage. As I have said in previous answers, I need life events to inspire me. I get a conceptual writer's block; I have difficulty coming up with a concept or reason to write. Once I have that, I do not find it difficult to write. As a general, not personal, response to the question, I would suggest stopping, doing something else to alleviate frustration (read, play sports, see a movie, etc.), and coming back to the book later.

It’s no secret that each of my novels is based on actual events from the news. Being a writer begins with my legal experience and passion for justice, but what hooks me more is creating and developing believable characters that many readers could relate to.

I am currently working on a "current events" novel entitled Betrayal of Justice, featuring some of the characters I introduced in Betrayal of Faith. So, we will have a little "Betrayal Series" beginning to percolate...

Actual life experiences and a passion for justice compels me.
