Hi Mark I've read all of your books including Road brothers and During the dance, but favourite is still the Broken Empire books. Despite his single minded focus which often evinces the harshest brutality, cruelty and callousness, there seems to be a deeply buried goodness in him. How did you manage to pull that off with such an amoral character?

Mark Lawrence Hi Karim - I'm not sure how to answer this. I suspect there's far less calculation behind writing in general, and mine in particular, than you may think.

I never have a set of goals that I want to pull off and techniques with which to achieve those goals. I simply have a character in mind and let them act according to their nature.

Hi Mark, I just finished Prince of fools and abselutly loved it and I thought this anti- hero side a breath of fresh air. I am from Iceland and recognized few words from my language that gave the story a extra value for me. Is Snorri meant to be from Iceland or is it just open for interpretation, like any northern Viking country and second question, when does this story take place, I mean Stocholm syndrome ? :)

"He has held secret level clearance with both US and UK governments. At one point he was qualified to say 'this isn't rocket science ... oh wait, it actually is'.' Hey me too except secret clearance in USA was with BAE. Rocket science I did was mostly launched from guns and from ships, so what 'branch' of rocket science did you work with? Plasma and rail guns were cool.
