I haven't read your book, All the Ugly and Wonderful Things, but I've seen a lot of controversy in the age differences of the characters, is there a reason for the age difference and do you feel the relationship between the characters is wrong?

The reasons for their age difference is built into the internal logic of the story, so it's fairly impossible to talk about without deconstructing the story, which wouldn't be of any use to you, as you haven't read it. I would categorize their relationship as problematic, but having been in that situation myself, I'm not going to try to make a moral judgment.

I love your book!! I had my best friend read it and she loved it too but critiqued the one-dimensional nature of the aunt that tries so hard to control Wavy (Iv forget her name offhand). What is she about? Is she just a middle class white lady trope or is the predictability of her character an intentional writer's choice? I suggested the the latter to my friend but i'd love to really know why.

I just now finished and totally loved your book! my god, what a talent you have to do so well at creating characters and bringing them to life that you make me feel so emotional towards them. that you make me grow to know and care for them. That you can make me see past all distaste and end up just wanting these two together! :) thank you! is this your first novel?
