Hello- one of my friends recommended your book to me and actually bought me a copy. I look forward to reading it, but I need to finish another series first. In the mean time, I was wondering if it would be appropriate for my 12-year old son? I'm not worried about his reading level (he's a voracious reader and loves fantasy), but rather his maturity level. Thanks!

Hi Jeff,
That's a difficult one for me to answer. As a general rule I don't recommend the series for readers under 15 or so, but that entirely depends on the individual's reading experience. If someone has read a book like The Handmaid's Tale (as an example), then they've got a context within which to interpret issues of violence (including sexual violence) and oppression. If their primary exposure to those issues is exclusively through super hero movies (which I adore, but which don't tend to give one the tools for interpretation of potentially distressing scenes or the broader questions they evoke), then I wouldn't yet recommend the Greatcoats books to them.
Hope that helps!

In Knight's Shadow Falcio is remembering a conversation he had with King Paelis after the King had killed a wannabe assassin. During that conversation Paelis says he could have every Duke, Lord etc. and their families killed. But we never hear why that would have been a good or bad idea. What if Paelis had gone ahead and killed the entire aristocracy of Tristia. What would have happened?

I found Knight's Shadow in a store and fell in love instantly. Chapter 1 had me laughing the whole way through. Sold on the spot! I've resisted the urge to read further until I've ordered Traitor's Blade first. I'm a reader with no mercy - on a good day I'll judge a book by its first paragraph, and on other days it'll be the first sentence. So, well done! How do you do it? You sir have just got yourself a new fan!

Surprised your first book isn't an audiobook. Is there a date for that? Thanks.
