Alicia Terrill

I've read the first 4 books in the Time quintet, but only the 1st book in the O'Keefe family series. It seems that this is the last book for both. Do I need to read books 2 and 3 of the O'Keefe family series (or should I?) ? Or can I jump right in to this one? Will it spoil anything?

Hannah Hess The truth is that if you read An Acceptable Time without reading the O'Keefe family series, you will feel like there is something you are missing. You will be wrong. There is nothing in House Like a Lotus worth reading. However, if you are dead set on reading House Like a Lotus at some point, then yes, reading An Acceptable Time first will spoil it for you. Now, in this particular case, when I say "spoil," I don't mean "reveal one or two major plot points thereby diminishing your experience of the book as a whole," but rather that you will simply not be capable of caring enough about the characters or plot to force yourself to finish. But seriously, don't make yourself read House Like a Lotus just to get to this one. It's not worth your time.
Shirley Durr This was not one of my favorites in the series. In fact, I've forgotten most of it and am delaying my re-read because I don't have fond memories of it.
Alexandra I read this book many years after completing the first 3 books in the Time quintet, and other than some minor family spoilers (children, marriages, etc) I had no trouble with it at all.

There are some references to House Like A Lotus and a subplot will lose a little oomph for not having read that first. But for me personally it didn't hinder my enjoyment of the book. It just made me want to go back and read the rest one once I was finished!
