Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Rondi Bauer Olson A number of years ago, the rail line behind our house closed. I had enjoyed listening to the trains rumbling by in the distance, then suddenly the comforting sound was gone. I began to imagine a post-apocalyptic world where huge swaths of the country were abandoned. My main character from ALL THINGS NOW LIVING, Amy, appeared in this landscape, scavenging with her father. From there I developed the back story of how the world ended up so empty, and the conflict that emerged over the groups of people who had survived.
