I've just finished Rules of Prey, and I'm going to start Shadow Prey. My question is, does Davenport become more likeable as the series goes on? I like Sandford's plotting and pacing, but found Davenport to be almost completely unsympathetic. I'm not sure I want to fully dive into the series if he doesn't progress as a character. I like flawed characters, but didn't care for him in the first book.

As we all know, Davenport isn't atypical.. there are many men and women who are unable to be faithful or loyal to good people that love them, and without any understandable justification other than the urge in their loins, betray them, but had Davenport not evolved in- to a better person I wouldn't have read almost everyone of his many successive books. I almost quit this book a dozen times... his behavior at the hospital bedside of his married "lover" under the nose of her faithful husband was especially appalling. The only reason I finished it was because after reading successive books, he does stop behaving like a hormone driven 14 year old. (less)
