James Dewar
James Dewar asked Anthea Sharp:

What kind of characters do you feature in your books and how do you come up with the narrative that the books follow and how would you put together the ideas in general for the story that you are telling?

Anthea Sharp Hi James! That is a huge question. ;) I am a plot-focused writer, but plot and character are interlinked - as in, certain characters will make certain choices based on who they are and their motivations, which will affect the plot and story direction in different ways, depending on who they are. My Feyland books came out of the idea that immersive games were somewhat analogous to the Realm of Faerie. The Dark Realm is based on the old ballad of Tam Lin, so I had an idea of who I needed my characters to be in order to follow that pattern.

If you're looking for resources, I recommend STORY by Robert McKee, How To Write the Breakout Novel by Donald Maass, and Characters & Viewpoint by Orson Scott Card.

But most of all, just write. Don't let the idea that you have to have it figured out beforehand stop you from putting words on the page~
