What do you like about writing fiction and is there a particular distinction that you would possibly consider Young Adult fiction in the fantasy genre brings something different from other types of writing in this type of novel such as mainstream adult novels for slightly more grown up readers?

Hi James - thanks for the question! I think YA fantasy, and young adult fiction in general, is more fast-paced, deals with teen issues (first love, coming of age, issues with parents) and is perhaps more emotional than mainstream adult novels. Plus the age of the protagonists is a factor. :)

I fell in love with Feyland all those years ago, and I remember thinking, "Yes. This is how I love my fairy tales!" Then I realized you're in the same list as my other favourite authors like Holly Black, L.J Smith and Laini Taylor who could spin magic through words! I can't enough of it so I'm wondering if you're working on any other new YA books in the Fae world? :D

I'm an aspiring writer, but I'm dealing with two things: I get discouraged every single day because 96% of manuscripts are rejected, and I haven't had an idea for years, literally. There's too many people wanting to be writers, and knowing there's so much competition just kills me a little every day. When I get motivated, immediatly something appears about the industry that kills it. Any tips on how to deal with this?
