Goodreads asked Sarah Fox:

What mystery in your own life could be a plot for a book?

Sarah Fox About a dozen or so years ago, when I was living in Vancouver, the police used the cedar hedge along the side of my family's property as a place for officers to hide while conducting surveillance. When the shifts changed, an unmarked car would pull into the back neighbour's driveway and the officers (in plain clothes) would climb over the fence to access the hedge or the car (they did have the courtesy to let us know so we weren't alarmed by strangers in the backyard, although my dog still was, naturally). This went on for days, if not weeks, rain or shine. I remember waking up at five o'clock one morning, startled by the sound of the fence creaking, until I reminded myself that it was just the cops and went back to sleep. I strongly suspect I know which house they were watching, but exactly why and whether they ever got what they wanted out of the surveillance, I'll never know. To this day I'm still curious though!
