I listen to music. I'm a big fan of Folk Blues, Folk Rock, Jazz, and Indie. At some point during the song, they will sing something that gives me an idea and everything just blooms from there. Many times, if I'm writing a section that doesn't match my own mood, I'll put in some music to set the mood. It works like a charm!
