A Goodreads user asked Katie McGarry:

Hi Katie! I'm a big fan of your books and I really love your characters. What was new, interesting and a little bit weird to me is that one of my stories was similar to yours and I was so scared! I haven't read your book when I was writing my story. I was thinking about how could be my character familiar to Isaiah and his story. I said, God, I have to write a total new story. Have you ever had experience like this?

Katie McGarry Hi Niko,

There are always going to be books that have things in common. I've written books on foster care, drag racing, baseball, motorcycle clubs and MMA fighting. I'm not the first to do this and I won't be the last.

There are going to be books that have things in common. What makes it different is how you tell the story, and how your style of writing and experiences influences the characters and plot. :-)

I hope this helps,

Katie
