Goodreads asked L.M. Reynolds:

What mystery in your own life could be a plot for a book?

L.M. Reynolds I remember a time when I was walking across the tarmac someplace in Africa, disembarking from an airplane as others queued up for boarding. While the world can sometimes be very small, I was still surprised to see a man I'd known from a different continent. As we approached each other, a smile on my face, his eyes met mine and it was immediately obvious that he was not pleased to see me. When I was a few feet away, he whispered, "You don't know me," and kept on moving. I never saw him again. I've often wondered why he was there, where he was going, and what he was doing, and will eventually build a story around that encounter.
