Goodreads asked Sandy Wright:

What mystery in your own life could be a plot for a book?

Sandy Wright My family went camping the summer I began to study witchcraft. The first morning, a pair of huge ravens flew over our campsite. Whoomp, whoomp, whoomp. The sound of their wings drew me out of my warm sleeping bag.
When I stumbled out and looked up, a raven as big as our dog hopped down to an eye-level branch. He cocked his head at me and stared into my eye. "Nice to finally meet you", he croaked. "I'm your spirit totem. What do you want to know first about my world?"
Do you believe we can speak to animal's spirits? I've been talking with ravens, crows and mockingbirds for ten years now. And, yes, if you listen, they will answer.
