Sandy Wright Hi Wendy and thanks for your question. I have so many books that I've enjoyed. Here are a few to recommend:
The Way of Wyrd by Brian Bates
The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley
The All Souls Trilogy by Deborah Harkness (Starts with Discovery of Witches)
the Practical Magic series by Alice Hoffman
The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane by Katherine Howe.

If these authors aren't practicing witches, they are probably historians who've done a load of research.
Please let me know which you enjoy. And look for Book 2 in my Ancient Magic series, hopefully later this year. It's tentatively titled Stones of the Ancients.
Thank you again for your interest!
Sandy Wright I am not a psychic, but I do think I might be an intuitive. My mother visits me, usually at times when the veil between worlds is thin. Interestingly, my father does not visit. I asked him to, but he didn't answer.
Having said that, I do not receive anything from random people.

As far as paranormal events, I think all people who practice witchcraft experience paranormal activity in the literal definition. In a meditative state, I can sense auras and energetic bodies. I can travel outside my corporal body to other places. I can direct my will and intention for a desired mundane result.
Do you consider these paranormal events?
Thank you for your question!
Sandy Wright When I began studying witchcraft seriously, about ten years ago, I decided I wanted to write a paranormal series about a mundane woman who discovered witchcraft unwillingly, and isn't comfortable with the idea that she has "powers."

The setting for the book is Sedona, Arizona, a mystical little town of unworldly red rock formations renowned for housing five separate power vortexes.

The MC in Song of the Ancients, Samantha Danroe, is pulled into the supernatural world kicking and screaming, but she soon discovers that she'd better get her $#@! together fast if she wants to stay alive.

The male MC, Nicholas Orenda, on the other hand, is based very loosely on Severus Snape, the Harry Potter character. I hated that Severus, an extremely adept witch, was off'd so easily by a snake!

So I took the feel of Severus, who is not black or white, but many subtle and twisting shades of grey, and gave him an adult teaching role. He's not very good at it, by the way. He has anger issues, and he doesn't trust Samantha. But they will be a bonded team by the end of the series.

Song of the Ancients is Book One of the Ancient Magic series. Book Two will be in another natural power site, some ancient standing stones in Scotland. My husband and I are traveling there next month to finish my research, and the book will be released in early 2018.
Sandy Wright I'm currently writing a stand-alone suspense titled Crescent Moon Crossing. It's set in Arizona near the Mexican border, an area that's a hotbed for illegal border crossings.

Here's the cover blurb:

Staff Sgt. Jace Merrick's two short-term goals: Join the Army Counter-Intelligence Unit, and kill his wife.

When his bleeding-heart spouse, Abby, begins volunteering at Hope House, a group that leaves supplies in the Arizona desert for illegals crossing the border, he hatches a plan to make her murder look like a coyote smuggling gone wrong.

Rumor Vargas is first on the witness list of Deputy Sheriff Cooper "Coop" Jones, assigned to investigate her friend's murder. Rumor finds his quick mind and wicked wit attractive and she's curious about his battle-weary eyes. But when he turns that inquiring mind on her little brother as a prime suspect, Rumor finds she has a reason besides attraction to keep Coop close.

The Sheriff suspects Alberto Vargas has Cartel ties, and this certainly look like the notorious gang's work. On the other hand, Abby's husband—and his lover--have their own motives for murder.

The further Coop digs into the case, the less the facts add up for any of his known suspects.

Someone has a grudge against Jace Merrick. A life and death grudge. And it's time for pay back.

While this book is a stand-alone, the main character, Rumor Vargas, will be familiar to readers of my first book, Song of the Ancients.

I'm planning to publish Crescent Moon Crossing in fourth quarter 2017.

Sandy Wright My family went camping the summer I began to study witchcraft. The first morning, a pair of huge ravens flew over our campsite. Whoomp, whoomp, whoomp. The sound of their wings drew me out of my warm sleeping bag.
When I stumbled out and looked up, a raven as big as our dog hopped down to an eye-level branch. He cocked his head at me and stared into my eye. "Nice to finally meet you", he croaked. "I'm your spirit totem. What do you want to know first about my world?"
Do you believe we can speak to animal's spirits? I've been talking with ravens, crows and mockingbirds for ten years now. And, yes, if you listen, they will answer.
