Goodreads asked Kris Pearson:

What mystery in your own life could be a plot for a book?

Kris Pearson Well, I don't know about a whole plot, but I confess little pieces of my real life have definitely crept into some of the novels. My parents' wedding night hotel! At least two men from my past - although maybe not in the way that sounds. Places I'm familiar with (sometimes twisted around to disguise them for privacy's sake.) I simply don't lead a mysterious or angst-ridden life. I'm very lucky to have a happy personality, and be able to feel contented with almost everything that comes my way.
I guess something I don't know much about is the history of our house. It's just over a hundred years old, built of timber to be flexible in the earthquakes New Zealand sometimes gets, and definitely holds a few mysteries. We've done a lot of reno over the years and found pieces of old wallpaper under wallboard, old newspapers under some of the original carpet. Although I know the names of the people who built it, I don't know any of their history - or why the hall wallpaper was dark green and looked as though it had been sprinkled with birdseed. It must have been so dreary. And now I'm thinking hmmm... family history... maybe a great-grand-daughter of the original owner comes by to check a few details for a family history, meets grown-up son of current owner... sparks fly... what do you reckon?
