Publisher provided wonderful unexpected publicity on the USA Today HEA blog. Book still 20,000 words short!

I'd tag along with Melanie Harlowe's people in After We Fall, If You Were Mine, and Man Candy. I loved all three of these - possibly farmer Jack Valentini and heiress Margot who threw the scones were my favourites, but Theo who was the hired date in If You Were Mine was an absolute sweetie, and the beginning wardrobe scene in Man Candy is just about the funniest thing I've ever read.
What would I do there? Well, if I was very lucky I'd soak up some of Melanie's impressive writing ability, but I'd be happy if she just provided me with a great man! (Husband might not feel that way...)

We're heading into winter here in New Zealand. Makes no difference to what I'm reading though. Currently I'm RE-reading all of Jenna Bennett's wonderful realtor books with Savannah and Rafe - finished number 11 last night. This morning I started another read-through of Penny Read's Beauty and the Mustache. Love all her stuff. And my friends Tracey Alvarez and Serenity Woods both have new books out/due.

Well, I don't know about a whole plot, but I confess little pieces of my real life have definitely crept into some of the novels. My parents' wedding night hotel! At least two men from my past - although maybe not in the way that sounds. Places I'm familiar with (sometimes twisted around to disguise them for privacy's sake.) I simply don't lead a mysterious or angst-ridden life. I'm very lucky to have a happy personality, and be able to feel contented with almost everything that comes my way.
I guess something I don't know much about is the history of our house. It's just over a hundred years old, built of timber to be flexible in the earthquakes New Zealand sometimes gets, and definitely holds a few mysteries. We've done a lot of reno over the years and found pieces of old wallpaper under wallboard, old newspapers under some of the original carpet. Although I know the names of the people who built it, I don't know any of their history - or why the hall wallpaper was dark green and looked as though it had been sprinkled with birdseed. It must have been so dreary. And now I'm thinking hmmm... family history... maybe a great-grand-daughter of the original owner comes by to check a few details for a family history, meets grown-up son of current owner... sparks fly... what do you reckon?

Of the ones I've written? It's always the most recent - because I get so tied up with them that the others fade away a bit. So that would be Anna and Jason in HARD TO REGRET, and I'm currently having fun threading them into HARD TO RESIST with her sister Joss and Jason's friend Cameron.
I also enjoyed bringing Christian and Fiona from THE WRONG SISTER into my Christmas Novella SANTA CLAWS.
If you mean my favourite from any fiction, then it would be Hardy and Haven from Lisa Kleypas's BLUE EYED DEVIL. I don't know how many times I've read that book!

Hi Cathy. Three at least - and maybe more. I'm already having the cover for the next one designed. This will be Jason's friend Cameron and Anna's sister Josslyn - so Jossy and Cam. She's the lawyer who's been a thorn in his side for several years - not that he ever knew she was Anna's sister because he'd only met Anna the day before HARD TO RESIST starts.
I 'introduced' them near the end of HARD TO REGRET, and now we're getting to hear all of the conversation that wasn't included in that book. Sparks are flying...

The most recent is 'More than the Money', and I wanted to write the last of my Heartlands trio and wrap up a couple of other story-lines. I also wanted to write a cowboy. Well, I live in New Zealand, a long way from cowboy country, so I created Rory - a kiwi boy who'd been sent to live with family on a ranch in Texas. Sixteen years later I brought him home - a fully fledged cowboy, but still a kiwi at heart. His cowboy-speak is a combination of Texas and New Zealand so no-one's going to be too offended and find him 'wrong'.

Worst question in the world! There are too many answers. I might visit somewhere that I can turn into a great setting just by wondering 'What happened here?' Or I might see a picture in a magazine or brochure and that person gets lodged in my brain and slowly turned into a hero or heroine. Maybe a news item sparks me off in a new direction. 'Taken by the Sheikh' came from a news item - several years ago a most unlikely person was captured and held hostage by terrorists, and finally released. And I thought 'What if that had been the nanny for an American family, and someone thought she was the eldest daughter?'

I just yesterday finished writing and proofing a naughty novella called 'Hot for You' - this will be released in late August. It will be up for pre-order very soon. Then I'm back into my second Sheikh story. Given my first of those is still my best seller I should really get a wriggle on...

Write. You're either a writer or you're not. If you're only thinking about it and not writing anything, you're not a writer. You're not even an 'aspiring writer'. Get it down - on paper or on the screen - and then you can get it into better and better shape. THAT'S what makes a writer.

Being in charge of my own life. As an indie author I can work when I want, write what I like, and control everything. (Control freak here - standards to maintain!)

I don't have it! Life gets in the way sometimes so I get less time at the computer, but I've been a professional advertising writer in the past and for that you just have to produce the goods because someone is paying you to.
