What mystery in your own life could be a plot for a book?

Sean Patrick Brennan In 1997, someone took something from me without my knowledge, something he knew I wouldn't realize was missing until he was long gone. If this were a plot device, I might springboard from this event to his version of things, where once he's alone with his stolen treasure, a new misadventure takes over his life. A long series of misadventures, perhaps, such that he finally realizes they've all been related to his theft some 20 years earlier, causing him to return the stolen object to me in the year 2017.
