What mystery in your own life could be a plot for a book?

Jennifer Bohnhoff I took my wedding ring in to have the settings checked right before my 5th anniversary. The ring was a 130 year old antique, with three garnets. It wasn't terribly expensive, but it was one of a kind. While the jeweler was working on it, a man came in and asked to use the bathroom. The jeweler escorted him behind the counter. When the man left, the ring was gone.

I've often wondered what happened to that ring. Was it given to someone? Resold for drug money? Where is it now? I also wonder about the history of the ring before I got it. I bought it in an antique store in Oxford, England. Who wore it before I did?

I'm not sure if the story that came out of this would be a mystery or an historical novel, but it might be interesting.
