Goodreads asked Jason E. Fort:

What mystery in your own life could be a plot for a book?

Jason E. Fort A friend of mine and I were on night shift, and were called to initiate an investigation into the theft of some televisions on a certain floor at our work location. We took the report, and started to backtrack through the building, and follow clues to a robotic system that perhaps was being used to pull off these thefts. We couldn't find enough to come to conclusions by the end of our shift, so we decided to investigate further the next night. When we showed up for work the next shift, we both received messages to pursue the case no further; that it was being handled internally. To this day (this was five years ago), I have no idea why our attention was deflected from the case, nor whatever became of the televisions or potential perpetrators.
My what a tangled web of a tale I could weave with this; perhaps the robotic delivery system could have been used for something else, and some internal employee caper drew the wrong kind of attention to a certain smuggling operation that was supplying certain access to certain goods not usually available to just any employee.
