Goodreads asked Rory D. Nelson:

What mystery in your own life could be a plot for a book?

Rory D. Nelson That's an excellent question. Some people in my life have felt that my life story would have made a good plot for a book, but I'm not exactly comfortable sharing some of those intimate details.
I think it would have to be embellished and I would have to change the names of characters in order to protect the innocent though. College for me was a time for experimentation, introspection and discovering who I was .
I took a shit load of drugs, was promiscuous and committed countless burglaries and traveled throughout California in an attempt to " break on through to the other side".
In retrospect, I don't think My experience was that enlightening. I was merely embracing hedonism and using it as an excuse for self discovery. In other words, I was just having a good time.
The real mystery for me is why I began to write at the age of 40. I almost feel like a stenographer and conduit to another world. While this is probably not true, I would someday like to explore this theme in my fiction.
