A Goodreads user asked Keith R.A. DeCandido:

What's the procedure for writing tie-in books? Did you offer your proposal, or you were contacted by publisher or agent? And, for The Zoo Job, you were working with J.Rogers, or someone else?

Lele Montgomery
Lele Montgomery asked Keith R.A. DeCandido:

Well Hi! Now I have to ask you this question. Last year I have read the Supernatural book of yours called "nevermore" and since then I was keep on asking myself one question. Have you read some of the Edgar Allan Poe stories to write this story of Supernatural? And which ones? Seriously, I love how it starts with a heavy metal ghost and ends up with an Edgar Allan Poe book:)
