I was born in Aberdeen, a city in the north-east of Scotland. When I was a kid we moved around a lot but I suppose the place I'd say I was brought up in is Stonehaven. It's only about 15 miles south of Aberdeen and is a very picturesque little town.
On the cliffs just outside Stonehaven is Dunnottar Castle, a now ruined castle that's steeped in history. The Scottish crown jewels were smuggled out of there by a washerwoman to avoid them falling into English hands. The town is also famous for Hogmany (New Year's Eve) when people swing fireballs around their heads to ward off evil spirits.
It was a lovely place to grow up in!
