Do you need to read the series in order? I happen to have a copy of the Chosen Prey but I suppose it's the 12th book in line; if I decide to skip out the rest of the novels prior to it, will it still make sense? Or will I be missing out on some vital information?

To answer your question, no, you do not, but you will want to go back eventually and get the background on the characters.(less)
