It was deliberately confusing, I think! I made the same error but realised half way through. It was tricky because of the nicknames, Goldie, Poodle and Ziggy, and I think because of the blurb which made us think Harrington was awful and so that he was the author of the diary.
I also looked back through the book and couldn't work out why I had initially thought Harrington the author. Quite fun though, although maybe not if it was still confusing by the end!

I thought the same too, until about 60-70% of the book, where it was explicitly revealed that the diary writer, Ziggy, was in fact not Harrington. It feels that Joanne deliberately misled us :)

I thought the same, about half way through one of the diary entries referred to Johnny and I realised it wasn't him! I thought the diary writer was Ziggy, although the nicknames confused me and I wished I'd made a note nearer the start who was who
