Does it annoy you that Tempe's personality in Bones is nothing like your original Tempe? I love Bones but feel that Tempe has been dumbed down.

TV is different from books. Fox decided early on that they'd prefer a younger version of the character. When we cast Emily Deschanel in the role of Tempe, she brought her own style to the part. Most of the social awkwardness of TV Tempe was her idea. I couldn't be happier with how she portrays the character on Bones. I like to think of the TV series as somewhat of a prequel to my novels.
