Where did your interest come from for the two fields you excel in, anthropology and writing, and what are the biggest similarities and differences between the two?

Kathy Reichs I was the kid wearing a pretend lab coat and conducting experiments in the dirt. Forensics appealed to me because the field combined hard scientific principles with the thrill of figuring out real world problems. I began writing as a way to bring my science to a larger audience. I'd worked on many incredible cases in my career, and I thought these stories and situations could be the basis for excellent fiction.
