May I put two questions in? :) Will there be a paperback for the second volume of stories for SPECTR? Also, what was your inspiration for writing SPECTR and Whyborne/Griffin?

1 - I'm currently formatting and proofing the second SPECTR paperback, with the intent to release it the first week of September.
2 - For years I really wanted to write a book drawing off the pre-Victorian vampire folklore, which depicted them as demonic forces possessing corpses. But it wasn't until I asked myself what would happen if the body didn't stay dead that I had the beginnings of an actual story. SPECTR grew from there.
As for W&G, I wanted to write a story with a geeky hero whose academic ability saves the day. Like many people I find the Victorian era fascinating, so I chose it as a setting. Things spiraled out of control from there. :)

I love your characterization in the Spectr and particularly in the Whyborne and Griffin series. However I am struggling to like either of the protagonists in the Spirits series, they are just so full of self-pity. I am part-way through Dangerous Spirits and have had to put it to one side for a while. Should I persevere? I really do enjoy your stories
