Charlaine Harris Of course there was a reason. I had never planned for Aurora to stay with Martin, but the publisher I was with at that time felt he was too popular to dispense with. So he was part of the series for a longer than I ever intended. When the series changed publishers, I had free rein to follow my original plan. Aurora's life was never meant to be trouble-free; no one's is. The death of a spouse is a terrible thing.
