One of the best things is the excuse to do research! I love trying to figure out how things would have been, why did this or that happen, what were things really like when my character walked the streets of Venice, etc.
But one of my other favorite things is hearing from people who have enjoyed my books - the email from the gentleman who said he finally understood the Electoral College after reading my book, the note from the woman in Amsterdam who appreciated my brief history of the Pilgrims, and those types of things.
