asked:
When does the action pick up? And when does the scare fest come in? I'm starting to fall asleep while reading this book. And normally I go through 5 or 6 by Mr. King a month but this book I am getting there at a snail's pace

This book does not really have a 'scarefest' but it does have (in my opinion) a very strong final third with plenty of action and explanations. It's maybe not your typical horror story but i think it shows King can weave great stories in more than just the horror genre

This is not a book for the typical horror reader, particularly a young horror reader. Insomnia is about an old man, a widower, who can't sleep at night and starts to notice strange things happening in his little town after the sun goes down. It has some horror but nothing like The Shining or Salem's Lot. This is more the everyday horror of the world seeming askew and people acting strangely for no reason.

it never improves. In fact, it gets much worse. Save yourself, and throw it away now.
