Why did you not have Frank consider installing a security system for the gates/grounds of both farms or at least an alarm system for the house? This really bugged me. Oh and I still *don't get* the title!

I just like the title. To me, it meant that the boys came from the sea (two, if by sea) and that Frank was the guardian (waiting on the opposite shore). I saw Frank as someone who, despite his training, believed that HE was the alarm system and that he could protect his family ... his confidence in that was his fatal flaw.
